Summer 2019: Life Updates and Goals

Summer 2019: Life Updates and Goals

My last life updates post was three months ago in May! I decided it was about time I updated you guys and reflected on how things have been going since then.

My 2019 Goals Overall

At the end of 2018 I set myself some goals for 2019. I really wasn’t happy at the end of last year and while this year has been tough. I made sure I stuck by the goals I set myself and have slowly been working at them. These were my 2019 goals:

  • To have some kind of job.
  • To improve my health and well-being.
  • Finally, to have some kind of career path to work towards.

Some optional mini goals were to learn to drive again, read more books (aha!) and start saving money.

I have a part-time job now

My biggest goal of 2019 was to start working. In June I took on a part-time job at my university as part of the Residences Team. I worked at one of the halls sites as a domestic assistant. I was promoted to an RSA last week which is exciting! It comes with a lot more responsibility and fits perfectly with my full-time studies starting in September as its weekend work.

I am healthier, fitter and stronger

This job is very physically demanding. And while it leaves me in a constant state of physical exhaustion, after a few months I have become accustomed to it. I am so much more physically fit now, I no longer experience back pain. I do still get pain in my ankles and knees but I think they will pass when more weight comes off. I have also lost 10 lbs since starting this job which I am very pleased with! I have a regular sleep pattern and routine now too. Which don’t get me wrong, does feel monotonous and boring some days. But, it has really helped me regulate my health better.

I start my MA in Publishing Media soon

In my last life update post I was still waiting for a response to my application. Since then I have received an unconditional offer to study Publishing Media in September! I am so nervous and anxious about what my future holds! I really hope this course will enable me to get me on the path to my first role in publishing.

Overall Thoughts and Reflections

Overall, slowly but surely I am making progress with my goals. I struggle to see the positive in my life sometimes. Writing posts like these help me see the bigger picture. I get so caught up in what I am not happy with that I forget to see what I should be happy with. Even if I am not an athlete who is the epitome of health or working my dream job. What I am is a lot further along than I was just a few months ago and I am proud of that.

That is all for my life updates post. How has your 2019 been so far? Do you like to set yourself goals? Comment down below!
