In terms of new releases, there are so many epic fantasy books dropping at the moment and I want to read them all! Unfortunately there are only so many hours in a day, but here are a few I’m super looking forward to reading.
Serpent & Dove By Shelby Mahurin

Bound as one, to love, honor, or burn. Book one of a stunning fantasy duology, this tale of witchcraft and forbidden love is perfect for fans of Kendare Blake and Sara Holland.
The cover of this book is astounding. The black and gold aesthetic is everything and I am living for it! I did vow to never be enchanted by a book cover again after The Beholder happened. Needless to say, this book does sound right up my street. Powerful women, dark magic and romance? Take my money.

House of Salt and Sorrows By Erin A. Craig

In a manor by the sea, twelve sisters are cursed.
Annaleigh lives a sheltered life at Highmoor, a manor by the sea, with her sisters, their father, and stepmother. Once they were twelve, but loneliness fills the grand halls now that four of the girls’ lives have been cut short. Each death was more tragic than the last—the plague, a plummeting fall, a drowning, a slippery plunge—and there are whispers throughout the surrounding villages that the family is cursed by the gods...
This book dropped last month and I cant lie, the hype got my attention. I like the mystery aspect of this one. It’s going to be fun reading along and trying to work out if Annaleigh’s suspicions about her parents are warranted.

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo

Galaxy “Alex” Stern is the most unlikely member of Yale’s freshman class. Raised in the Los Angeles hinterlands by a hippie mom, Alex dropped out of school early and into a world of shady drug dealer boyfriends, dead-end jobs, and much, much worse. By age twenty, in fact, she is the sole survivor of a horrific, unsolved multiple homicide. Some might say she’s thrown her life away. But at her hospital bed, Alex is offered a second chance: to attend one of the world’s most elite universities on a full ride. What’s the catch, and why her?
I’ve not read any of Leigh Bardugo’s previous books. As a result, I feel so out of the loop! I think like this book will be a great opportunity to introduce myself to her writing. The story sounds brilliant and I’m incredibly jealous of those with ARCs!

Five Dark Fates by Kendare Blake

In the final book in the #1 New York Times bestselling Three Dark Crowns series, an all-out war is brewing—one that will pit sister against sister and dead against undead…
Let’s face it, we all know I cant wait to read this one, aha! It is already out in the US but the UK edition doesn’t drop till the 19th of September. *sigh* However, I’m sure it will be well worth the wait. I’m excited but also sad my favourite series will be coming to an end.

me too! I hope you enjoy them too, thanks so much! 🙂
I’ve heard mixed things about Serpent & Dove, but I am most definitely intrigued and will be reading it, if only to have my own opinion. The concept sounds like something right up my alley, so fingers crossed! I’m really looking forward to Ninth House as well, but I’ll make sure to be in the right state of mind to read it after seeing the trigger warnings.
Now, for years I’ve heard of Three Dark Crowns and I own the first novel, but I have yet to read it. I will at some point though, that’s a promise!
trigger warnings? i had no idea! Which warnings are there? might put me off too tbh!
I am so sorry I am answering this late, but Mel has a list of the trigger and content warnings at the end of her review if that helps! https://meltotheany.com/2019/08/26/ninth-house-ninth-house-series-1-by-leigh-bardugo/
