June 2019 Reading Wrap-Up

Little Witch Academia

Welcome to my June 2019 Reading Wrap-up! June has been a very busy and stressful month for me. I haven’t done as much reading as I would have liked. I started a new job! It is very physically demanding and tiring which often leaves me too tired to do anything by the time I get home. I did read a book or two regardless so here is a run down of my June 2019 Reading Wrap-Up:

Clockwork Prince By Cassandra Clare ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I listened to the audio book of this while reading along and I absolutely loved the narration! The voice acting from Ed Westwick was phenomenal. While I mostly enjoyed this read some elements of the plot really got on my nerves which is why I rated it four stars out of five. The love triangle between the three main characters had me wanting to bang my head against a wall.

Clockwork Princess By Cassandra Clare ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I have to say, although I enjoyed the final instalment, I was slightly underwhelmed. I think the hype got to me a bit. I built it up in my head that I was going to me an emotional wreck but what actually happened didn’t shock me all that much. It was a great ending to the trilogy though!

Little Witch Academia Vol. 1 By Yoh Yoshinari ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This month featured my first ever manga review! I started reading City of Fallen Angels and I was finding it so boring. This put me in a slump that made me not feeling like reading anything at all so I decided to pick up something different from my shelf. I loved the animé and films for this manga and the books did not disappoint! They really reflected the characters well and even added a new stance to the original story which was refreshing.

Little Witch Academia Vol. 2 By Yoh Yoshinari ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I am still writing up my review for the second instalment to this manga so stay tuned for that! For now though, I didn’t find myself as engaged in this one as I did the first. Mainly because it was almost a direct replication of the series so I already knew what was going to happen. I absolutely adore the cover for this though. The colours, the art, ugh its so beautiful!

Himouto! Umaru-Chan Vol. 1 By Sankaku Head ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Umaru-Chan is my all time favourite animé series. So it was only right that I had to go back and read all the manga too! I read this digitally on Manga Rock for free which I really appreciated as manga are slightly more expensive than paperback books. Once again, the manga did not disappoint! I feel like it really captured the true essence of Umaru and her personality and lifestyle.

So there you have it! My June 2019 Reading Wrap-Up. Manga definitely filled a void for me with reading. I am hoping to finally get round to finishing City of Fallen Angels eventually.

How many books did you read in June and which was your favourite?

I find Cassie Clare books can be pretty hit or miss on occasion even though I mainly enjoy them myself, I’m glad you got yourself out of your slump though, I always find manga or graphic novels a great pallet cleanser.
