Newbie Book Blogger Tag

Newbie Book Blogger Tag

I found this tag while exploring other book bloggers from Twitter and decided to try it myself! I have always wanted to try a blog tag and I have only just started writing about book content on my blog so I thought it was very fitting. So without further or do, question number one!

Why did you start this blog?

I started this blog because I already had another blog for my Twitch channel. There though I felt that I could only really write about gaming and I had so much more that I wanted to write about. So I started a second, more personal blog that was able to more fully reflect me as a person. I called it “Dear Dominique’ because I like to write about my past experiences. Each advice post is like a letter to my future/past self and anyone else reading going through the same things.

What are the fun and unique things you can bring to book blogging?

I think I have a very unique thought process. When it comes to reviewing books that I have read I think my outlook on what I have read might be a lot different to what other people experienced.

What are you most excited for on this blog?

I’m excited to see how many books I have read by the end of the year. I am also excited for change and to see how much reading again positive impacts my mood and health throughout the year. Most of all, I am excited to be part of a community again and feel like I fit in somewhere.

Why do you love reading?

I love anything that can take me away from my reality for a while. Anything that just gets my brain to stop for a moment. Video games, music, and of course, books. I love that I can just transport my mind into this fictional world and follow a gripping story that takes me on a whirlwind of emotions and completely forget that I have bills hanging over me or other life things that can have you feeling incessantly stressed and anxious.

What series/books got you into reading?

I have always been encouraged to read by my mum. She was always buying me books as a child. I must have read The Giggler Treatment by Roddy Doyle 100 times over. Once I started secondary school reading just went out of the window. I had no time to read for pleasure, I was constantly reading for study and it just drained me. I studied philosophy at university too, so I was reading a lot of intense philosophical texts. Once I finished university though I finally found the time to get back into fictional books and I decided to pick up Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake after seeing it on Twitter. I thought the cover was stunning and I read the synopsis and had to read it for myself.

What question would you ask your favourite author if you could?

I would love to ask Kendare Blake what inspired her to become an author? Sometimes I’d love to think that writing a book is something I could do but then I get super into my head about it.

What challenges do you think starting a book blog will be the hardest to over come?

Comparing myself to others? I really want to start a bookstagram but then I see how beautiful other peoples feeds are and get in my head that I would never be able to take pictures that look nice.

When did you first start reading?

I don’t know exactly, but I am going to guess 4-5 years old.

Where do you like to read?

I like to read in bed. Or while I’m waiting somewhere and need a distraction. I spend a lot of time waiting at bus stops and I like to get something out to focus on so I can take my mind away from being stood out in the cold for so long.

What kind of books do you like to read?

I LOVE Young Adult/ Fantasy. Before I got back into reading I was playing a lot of fantasy style games like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Divinity Original Sin II and The Elder Scrolls Online. I love to watch anime too so I really want to try reading a manga some time.

I really hoped you guys enjoyed getting to know a bit more about me! If you have any more suggestions for Tags leave them in the comments below.
